ஸ்ரீ திருகச்சி நம்பியை பிடித்த ஏழரை ஆண்டு சனி, ஏழரை நாழிகையில் விலகிய அதிசயம்.
ஸ்ரீ காஞ்சி தேவ பெருமானிடம் அளவற்ற பக்தி கொண்ட ஸ்ரீ திருகச்சி நம்பிகளின் கனவில் தோன்றிய சனி பகவான் இன்று முதல் உம்மை நான் ஏழரை வருடம் பிடித்து கொள்ள போகிறேன் என கூறி மறைந்தார். இதனால் மிகவும் விசன முற்ற நம்பியை கண்ட தேவ பெருமாள் இவர் விசனத்தை போக சனி பகவானை அழைத்து அவரிடம் நம்பி எனது ஆத்ம பக்தன் எனவே நீ அவனை பிடிக்காதே, விட்டு விடு என்று ஆணை இட்டார் பெருமாள்.
சனி பகவானும், பெருமாளின் ஆணைக்கு கிணங்கி அதே நேரத்தில் தனது கடமையில் இருந்து தவறாமல் இருக்க தாம் ஏழரை மாதம் மற்றும் பிடித்து கொள்கிறேன் என கூற, தேவ பெருமாளும் இது மிகவும் அதிகம் என்று கூறினார். அதற்கு சனி பகவான் ஏழரை நாட்கள் ஆவது பிடித்து கொள்கிறேன் என்று பெருமாளிடம் அனுமதி வேண்ட, பெருமாளும் இது மிகவும் அதிகம் என்று வாதாட, கடைசியாக சனி பகவான் ஏழரை நாழிகை மட்டும் பிடித்து கொள்வதாகவும், உம்மையும் உமது பேரருள் பெற்ற ஸ்ரீ திருகச்சி நம்பியை யார் போற்றி வருகிறார்களோ அவர்களை நான் எப்போதும் துன்புறுத்த மாட்டேன் என்று கூறி மறைந்தார்.
அதன்படியே அடுத்த நாள் புஷ்ப மாலைகளுடன் ஆலவட்ட கைங்கரியம் செய்ய காஞ்சி புறப்பட்ட நம்பியை தங்க வட்டிலை காணாத குற்றத்திற்காக அரசு காவலர்கள் அவரை சிறை பிடித்தனர்.தங்க வட்டிலை தாம் எடுக்க வில்லை என்று கூறியும் சொல் கேளா அரசன் தண்டனை வழங்கினான். ஏழரை நாழிகைக்கு பின் தங்க வட்டில் திருடப்பட வில்லை சன்னதியில் தான் இருக்கிறது என்று அர்ச்கர்கள் கூற, அதே சமயம் பெருமாள் அரசனிடம் அசரீரியாக அரசனிடம் இதை கூற. அரசன் தன் தவறு உணர்ந்து நம்பியின் திருப்பாதங்களை பற்றி மன்னிப்பு கோரி மற்றும் நம்பியின் பக்தியை பாராட்டி பேரருளாளதாஸர் எனும் பட்டமும் வழங்கி மரியாதை செய்து நம்பியை அனுப்பினான். இவ்வாறு திருகச்சி நம்பிகள் தேவ பெருமாள் மீது அளவற்ற பக்தி கொண்டதின் காரணத்தால் ஏழரை ஆண்டு பிடிக்க இருந்த சனி ஏழரை நாழிகையாக மாறியது.

Shri Thirukkatchi Nambi’s 7-1/2 Years Saturn (Sani) reduced to 7-1/2 Nazhigai (i.e. 3 Hrs.)
In the dreams of Shri Thiruckkatchi Nambi, appeared Sani Bhagavan and told him, “I am going to hold you for next 7-1/2 years”. Hence, he got depressed. On seeing the depressed Nambi, to make him cheer, Lord Devaraja called Sani Bhagavan and told him not to hold Nambi as he is Lord’s Parama Bhakthan.
Then Sani Bhagavan, to respect his words as well as not to overrule his duty, he said, “I will hold him for 7-1/2 months for which Lord Devaraja didn’t accept. Then Sani requested for 7-1/2 months, even for which Lord Devaraja didn’t accept and finally he accepted for 7-1/2 Nazhigai’s (2-1/2 Nazhigai = 1 Hour). Sani Bhagavan Committed to Lord Devaraja, that he will not do any harm to those who worships him and his Bhakthan Thirukkatchi Nambi.
Next day, when he moved to Kanchi with flower garlands for performing his Alavatta Kainkaryam, he was arrested by the Government prision officers stating that the Golden Vattil (a kind of vessel used for performing pooja to Lord) is missing. Even though, Nambi was saying that he didn’t steal, The King didn’t listen to him and punished him. After 7-1/2 Nazhigai, (3 Hrs.) the Archaga’s said that the Golden Vattil was not stolen and it is there in the sannidhi only, the same time Lord Devaraja sounded the same at the King, he fell at the feets of Thirukkatchi Nambi and Named him as PerarulalaDasar and showered his respect to him.
