Valampuri Sangu is natural product from sea. In Valamburi shankh, if you hold in hand the open portion will be on the right hand side ( in Tamil valathukai). Valampuri Conch is available upto 12” (length) size. Valampuri Conch being a natural product will not be to exact size referred, thus it is referred as 2~3 inches, 3~4 inches etc. Normally there is no fake valampuri sangu because it does not have volumes to make.

Like Valampuri Conch there is also edampurisangu which is cheaper.valampuri sangu is believed to be superior.You can buy directly in www.rssonline.in. Valamburi shankh natural is used by vaisnavites and valampuri sangu polished is used by saivaits .

Valampuri Conch and its importance in spiritual are mentioned in Vedas. In Temples, Valamburi shankh is placed with water in front of the moolavar. With 108 or 1008 valampuri or edampuri sangu yagams are done and the holy water abisegam is done for moolavar of the temple directly from the valampuri / Edampuri sangu.

In pooja room Valampuri Conch should be placed on copper plate. Few get silver kavasam also made for valampuri sangu. There are separate mantras for valampurisangu pooja too.

Valampuri Conch export has constrains in some country, that has to be checked.
