21 Feet Copper Kodimaram (Dwajasthambam)

21 Feet Copper Kodimaram (Dwajasthambam)

Title icon left Summary Title icon right

Raja Spiritual Pvt Ltd crafted a towering 21 feet copper Dwajasthambam for a temple, a flagstaff tall enough to be seen from the streets around the shrine and strong enough to carry the festival flag year after year. At this scale the Kodimaram is built in sections, each one cut, rolled and decorated in our workshop before being joined with great precision. Copper sheet cladding, ornamental rings, a carved lotus base and a graceful crown were all shaped by hand under the guidance of experienced artisans. Because every extra foot adds weight and wind load, the structure, fixing and lifting plan received as much attention as the artistry itself. Every section was inspected before it left the workshop, so the pillar would rise cleanly once it reached the temple. Today the shining copper pillar anchors the temple courtyard and marks the sacred axis leading devotees toward the sanctum.

Concept & Emotions

Right icon

The trustees dreamed of a flagstaff that would announce the temple long before a devotee reached its doors. Their wish was a tall copper Dwajasthambam, richly finished yet simple in form, standing in line with the sanctum and gopuram as the Agama tradition suggests. Raja Spiritual visited the temple, measured the courtyard, and presented a drawing with the pillar's height, rings and base pattern. Work started once the committee approved every detail. To the community, the Kodimaram is where each festival begins, when the flag rises and the whole village gathers in prayer and celebration. It was meant to serve for generations.

Raja Spiritual’s Solution

Sectional Fabrication

The pillar was divided into clear sections for easy handling and transport

  • Each section was cut, rolled and trial-fitted in our workshop before dispatch
  • Joints were planned so that the final pillar looks like one seamless, continuous column once assembled on site

Craft & Ornamentation

Ornamental rings, lotus petals and the crown were shaped by hand

  • The temple committee reviewed the drawing and proportions before fabrication began
  • Fine copper embossing was added to the base to reflect the temple's sacred character and the devotion of its community

Safe Erection & Finishing

A lifting plan and trained crew were arranged for the erection day

  • The pillar was anchored deep into its base with strong supports and levelled carefully
  • A protective polish was applied to retain the copper shine against weather, sun and passing time
